DVI to TV Problems
This really doesn't have anything to do with Sage, but any help would be appreciated.
I just got my box in that I'm going to use for the Sage server, and it came with a Radeon X300 SE 128MB video card in it. I'm not real worried about it because when I finish my setup, this box won't be acting as a client at all. But, right now, while I'm just testing, I need it to display HD content on my 50" Samsung DLP (HLM507W). When I hook up the PC to the TV via s-video, I get a display, but its fairly fuzzy, and there is about a 1" black strip on the bottom of the TV that I can't get filled in. I've adjusted everything I can find in the ATI settings, and the TV settings. I guess that doesn't matter too much because for HD I'll need to use the DVI connection, and therein lies the problem. When I connect the PC to the TV via DVI, the TV just says "no signal" and the PC doesn't recognize anything is plugged in to it either. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Does it take a specific type of DVI cable? Will a better card make a difference? Thanks. |

More than likely your PC is set to use a resolution that your TV cannot accept. Try setting your computers resolution to one that the TV explicitly says it supports. For example, if your TV supports 720P, then set your PC to use 1280x720

I've tried that resolution, as well as others the TV says it supports, still no luck. Any other suggestions?
The wierd thing is that in the advanced setting for the display adapter, if I click on the displays tab, I have for options that I can enable. (monitor, tv, monitor, and fpd) When I hook up the s-video cable, the TV option is no longer greyed out, but when I'm connected via DVI, the TV option stays greyed out. To me, it seems like the computer just isn't seeing the connection. Could it be a problem with DVI-i vs DVi-d possibly? Last edited by KorCar1; 07-26-2006 at 01:13 PM. |

Perhaps a timings setting then. I would check out AVS forum, and I am sure you can find the working timing and rez pretty quick.
Try this forum http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=26 It is the HTPC forum at AVS Last edited by NEOSG; 07-26-2006 at 01:19 PM. |

Looks like it might just be an inherent problem with Samsung TVs. Still researching.
