ATI Wemote Wonder slows down SageTv

Hello,

I am new to SageTv and to this forum, so hello to everybody.

I have the latest SageTv version with flachbar sagemc 16x9 stv- atestbuild v68a installed.

Due to limited mouse support in sagemc (In the near future, I am willing to contribute improve this support), I tried to use my ATI TV-Wonder remote. I installed the latest drivers (3.04) with the ATI Remote Wonder plugin version 2.1.0.1 for SageTv.

Starting SageTv shows global slow UI Animations and more importantly I loose fluency in watching TV (low image rate).

If I don't start the ATI remote wonder program, everything is ok. I have used numerous TV program and it is the first time I am experiencing something like that...

Do you have any thoughts about it? Any suggestions? Will the use of girder avoid this problem?

By the way, I have a Radeon X800XL as a graphic card.

Thank you.

SageMC intentionally lacks mouse functionality. It was designed to be used with a remote. The original developer was going for a truely dedicated PVR look and feel. More mouse functionality was asked for in the past and rejected. I don't know how the current users and developers feel about it.

Do you have the same problems with the default STV or is it only with SageMC?

BTW welcome to the forums.

Same in the default STV or SageMC

You are right, I didn't try the default STV... After testing, the same low image rate occurs while watching TV. Since there are no UI animations in the default STV I don't see slow animations at all.

What really puzzles me is the fact that without the ATI remote program running, everything is working fine and fast. Even if my computer is far from being the fastest one (tualatin PIII 1.4GHz, Asus TUSL2-C, ATI Radeon X800XL, TV Wonder Elite, Samsung Syncmaster 244T 1920x1200) the processor occupation is about 35% without the remote and 40% with the remote (average). As you can see this is not much of a difference... how could this explain the lack of fluency in UI animations and TV viewing?

You could try using the remote with girder... there is a fully customizable plugin for you remote available.
