Difference between Sage5 products
I've been using the Sage 5 Trial software and Placeshifter Trial.
1. What is the difference between Placeshifter and the Client? 2. What is the difference between Sage5 Media Center and Sage5 Recorder? I have no idea where MVP fits in the mix. Silk

1. Placeshifter is designed to stream across the internet where as the client is meant to be used on a LAN. Which one you need depends on what you're trying to do with Sage. Placeshifter can transcode the video so that it can be played across the internet. The client has some features that Placeshifter doesn't, but doesn't do any transcoding so it's limited to your LAN.
Here is a thread that address the question in detail. 2. Sage Media Center is what you'd want. Sage recorder is actually v1.5, not 5. It's an older product that I believe is no longer under development and doesn't support many of the newer tuner cards. The MVP is a media extender that can be used with the Sage Media Center in place of building a full blown computer as a client. Last edited by blade; 07-21-2006 at 02:43 PM.
