Question about show categories

Is there any way to change a recording's 'category'? I would like to try and combine some shows into the same category, that I feel should be together, but instead they are all over the place. Here's some examples:

concert by Seal, category = "variety"
concert by Counting crows and Blues traveler, category = "music special"
soundstage and some other concerts, category = "Music"

I would really like to get them all in one category, so when I group my listing that way, I can find all music concerts in 1 spot, and not have to search all over for them.

If its possible to edit a recording's category field, does it then have to be confined to a specific list of pre-defined categories, or would I also then be able to extend my edits to do something like "Action Movies" and "Comedy Movies" etc?

If I've missed something obvious, or a customization already exists to do this, please point me there! Thanks!

I haven't used it for this purpose, so I'm not sure about this, but nielm's web server can edit show info, so perhaps you could use that to do what you want.

If I understand what you are wanting, Nielms Intelligent Suggestions Import might be something you might want to take a look at.

The picture attached here sort of illustrates the issue. Notice the categories for "Music", "Music special", and "Variety." These are all concerts that I would like to see listed under "Music."

I will check out nielm's stuff, thanks for the suggestions.
