Finally up, but the days are counting down...
I purchased the Sage TV and Placeshifter package two weeks ago, then purchase a wired MVP Media Extender last week - it all works great!
There were a few issues but the user forums provide a wealth of knowledge - thanks to all of you whose experiences I've tapped. Of course, here's the kicker - I have only 3 days left with my trial! My Register Key app says: "Your Media Extender and Placeshifter trail has 3days left. You currently have 2 valid Media Extender and Placeshifter license(s). Please enter your new SageTV Media Extender or Placeshifter license key below:" Yes - I've stopped the service, shut down the app, unregistered, re-registered, uninstalled, reinstalled - my days are still numbered. I wrestled with customer service last week - not a shred of help, they quit responding - all George wanted to know was if I had purchased valid keys. Sharing with him copies of purchase orders, emails of license keys, etc - never convinced him I purchased his company's product legit. My question to you - how do I stop this countdown on my version 5 Sage TV software? Again - tapping the brain trust, thank you! |

Tech support asked for log files and system info yesterday.
One day remaining on the trial - with 2 keys registered! More when we know later... |

why was it so hard for them to accept your proof of purchase (whatever that was- credit card transaction number or whatever)?

When it comes to license issues, most likely only official tech support can help you out. But something is seriously wrong then, this is a specific problem that I'm sure very few people has encountered. If you can't find a solution, then I suggest you uninstall SageTV, and this time delete the SageTV folder or movie it out of where it was installed. Then, reinstall SageTV and register the keys again. Good luck.

We're not questioning his purchase at all, we're just trying to get him to follow the directions we're sending him so we can resolve the issue. (since this issue has happened before and there are standard steps used to resolve it)
And I think your issue is probably that you're not registering the keys while SageTV and the service are both shut down. (you don't necessarily have to do it, but it doesn't always work if either of them are running)

I did not post here to create bad will or knock the Sage TV products.
I bought the Sage TV software with Placeshifter combo and wired Media Extender because my research found it is the best product on the market. It all works better than I expected! Excellent video quality, no darkness from the extender, no shuttering video, clean audio - right out of the box and onto our home entertainment system, no problems. I only became a bit concerned after registering keys and seeing that the software was still under trial and counting days down. Before contacting tech support or posting this help, I searched these forums to find a solution. After numerous attempts at stopping the service, unloading the app, uninstalling, reinstalling, unregistering, re-registering, the count-down continued. My concern grew when after four days of correspondence with tech support I was being asked if I was using valid keys - after day seven I was asked to send a log and config files. Today, the Sage TV register key utility states my trial period has expired and that I have two valid Placeshifter and Media Extender keys. The products continue to work - great - I might add again! |

I think it is only a misleading info in the "Register MVP/Placeshifter" utility itself. I just checked on my machine, and it also says "Your MVP/Placeshifter trial has expired. You currently have 2 valid ... licenses."
I remember when I first noticed this I was a little surprised too, but since it specifically stated that I had valid licenses I never was worried, I figured it was just a wrong printout - and like in the case of the OP, it just continued working after the trial period ... Dirk |

flachbar could be correct that it is just a misunderstanding about the inclusion of info for the trial and the number of valid licenses entered so far. During the trial period, you can connect more remote clients than the number of licenses, but those connections will be subject to the trial, which the licensed connections will not be. After the trial period is over, you can only have as many simultaneous connections as you have licenses. So, there is a need to convey both the trial days remaining (if any) and the number of licenses.
