Directv

Still trying to figure this out. I have a directv receiver feeding my WINPVR 350. Can I still record from my WINPVR card using the Sage EPG services ? I know that I have to have that card set to channel 3, but can the Sage software still schedule reordings from the directv receiver? I want to be able to leave my HTPC on and use the Sage software to record a progam on a directv channel when I am not there.

Thanks!

If you want to record from DirecTV and have Sage change the channel (which you most likely do); then Sage needs a way to control the DirecTV receiver. There's 2 ways of doing this currently. Serial control and IR Blaster control. If you've got a serial port (or home control jack) then that's the best bet. Check out www.pcmx.net/dtvcon for some good information on this. If you want to use an IR Blaster (which emulates a remote control) then I'd recommend the Actisys IR-200L; we have those available for purchase through our website.

You should hook up your DirecTV box to the PVR350 with either composite or s-video and stereo audio cables. You wouldn't want to use the RF connection; it's lower quality.
