pvr-500 tuning problem

I recently purchased a 2nd pvr-500, for tuning cable. My first 500 is for dtv / serial control. After adding my new 500 (for cable tuning, internally). This is going to be hard to explain so bare with me...

after hours of getting nowhere, i finally found out that my old 500 was being reported as tuner 2 and 4, and the new tuner was 1 and 3. Ok, so i'm passed that (i think). at the moment it appears that tuner 1 isnt always tuning right, it appears to only tune the last tuned channel. also strange is, and this may be standard in sage i dont know, but if i tune espn on a cable station it tunes channel "3" but is showing channel 208 off dtv which is espn but not the "channel" i told it to. At first i thought it was a bad tuner, so i set my old pvr500 in cable tv mode and it acted the exact same. dtv serial control is working perfectly but i cannot tune "basic cable" on 1 of the 2 tuners dedicated for cable tv. Pretty sure i have the latest drivers, oh it is ver 5.x of sagetv, and the cable is not split at all, its running directly to my sage server.

If I understand what you are saying, this is to be expected, as part of what SageTV does. See the note that starts at the bottom of p. 41 in the v5 PDF manual.

In short: when the same network is available via multiple channels on multiple sources, the network is listed in the Program Guide using just 1 of those channel numbers. Internally, SageTV will still track which source is being used to record frmo that channel & will tune it accordingly.

well i went back and checked for drivers for a 3rd time, and yes mine were older, i dont know how i missed it. So I updated and at the moment it seems to be working, but I also had it working this morning, or so i thought. I'll know for sure if its fixed for good, in a few hours... gotta put the wife to it and see if she can break it Thanks opus for the info on tuning
