Channels Limited on DVB-T

I cannot get Sage to tune beyond channel 8 and wondered if anyone else has seen this? If I select channel 9 - 17 from a system boot I get 'no signal' if I select a channel 1 - 8 and then select 9 - 17 I stay on the last channel it was on from 1 - 8 irrespective of selecting any channel 9 upwards, going back down to 1 - 8 works (true for both manually selecting them or from the guide).

This problem originally occured on 4.1.12 when I added a second DVB-T; since then I've removed one DVB-T, re installed Sage, reinstalled the OS and Sage, swopped the DVB-T and upgraded to 5.0.4 (5.0.3 didn't work, no signal on any channel!) all to no avail.(I'm running XP with latest updates, Demedius xmltv and the MCE 31D drivers for the DVB-T)

Ideas gratefully received.

Personally, I'd stick with Anders SBDARecorder for DVBT at the moment. I've tried the sage beta support but it crashed, alot! When I have time I'm going to try it again so I can get crash logs back to the developers as DVBT seems to be along way down the priorites list at the moment.

Edit: When I tried the built in DVBT I had to configure the frq file manually, scanning didn't work. Post the transmitter your tuning too and someone might be able to help by posting an frq you can use.

Out of curiosity I've set up SBDARecorder and yes it works! The down side is I will have to buy a copy of Cyberlink Power Producer just to get a filter, unless anyone knows of another filter I can use?

I guess you're correct in saying support in Sage is not stable enough at present.

A note for anyone else using a Nova-T, ScanChannels doesn't work with the MCE 31D drivers (scan timeout), I've reverted back to MCE 31B.

If you want to avoid a large download google for AutoDVRconvert (freeware) which comes with a filter.

I tried SBDARecorder some time ago with the trial version of PowerProducer, but I'm certain at the end of the thirty day trial it stopped working. Should I have seperated out the filter?

I assume I need MpgMux from these packages?

If people don't support the beta by working out the bugs, it will never be released.

Personally, I use the built-in DVB-T support with great success, very stable and reliable - no crashes since v5 was released. I can't see why anyone would go on using a plugin when native support is available. Having said that, scanning isn't exactly user-friendly yet, and you often need to tweak the frequency file.

The native support crashes in my case, SBDARecorder doesn't. Having failed to record an end of series episode of something for the missus I'm not going to risk switching back until Sage have ironed out some of the issues.

SBDARecorder is also easier to setup for novice users who may not understand how to scan manually, mess around with frq files etc.

When I have time I'm going to setup the native support and cause it to crash (back to back recordings caused the problems) to get logs to Sage. It will be straight back to SBDARecorder though!

I moved away from SBDARecorder to native support and have spent a lot of time trying to get it to work. I really do not understand what changed on my system but something did and an eight channel limit is not overly useful. I didn't experience any instability or crashes running native - just the channel problem.

Point taken on the .frq they can be confusing, perhaps there should be a repository for transmitter specific .frq files to assist the newcomer.

For now 5.0.4 is working with more than eight channels, so I'll leave it for a while until I see others posting success with a native configuration and in the meantime I'll take a look at MVPs and other useful additions.

I was having problems with my nova-T for ages with native support. I decided to give it another bash recently and it works flawlessly at the moment. I have no idea what has changed - but it's working great!

Could you try setup some back to back recordings on the same channel please?

Ok - not sure what the latest Beta was/is on V4 now, I moved from V4.1.12 because I had the channel issue appear and I'm now running 5.0.4 same problem with the channels. The only thing I haven't changed now is the PC itself so I'll maybe run up a different system and see what happens. It's good to know it can work. Thanks

Just an idea, but try setting your total_channel to 50. Interestingly, 17 lines of the channels gives you 8 channels, with the comments included.

If that doesn't work, see if you can preview the problem channels in the channel setup, report back.

So total_channel is actually a line count, makes sense with hindsight. It's working fine now and in answer to a previous question back to back recording works fine too.
