How to..Svideo on a 150
I have a 150 installed with the cable input. I have that set up as a video source in Sage. I also plugged in an Svideo cable from the cable settop box to the same card. How do I set up getting input and recording through Svideo? Do I set up another source? and if I do, there is really no program guide for it, since it only records what is on the settop box.
so, I'm confussed..thanks for the help.. Gary Ellis |

If it is connected to a converter box, you would set it up like any other source, as shown by the Source Setup steps starting on p. 146 of the v5 PDF manual. (You didn't mention it, but be sure the box's audio out goes to the 150's audio in too.)
For your provider, you need to choose the one that has the lineup for the level of service you get via your converter box. It has to be a different provider from what you are using for the coax input. When you get to Channel Setup: since you are also using the coax input on the same card, be sure that you disable any channels from the svideo input that are also available via the coax input. This is not an issue if you were using 2 separate tuner cards, but since you are using a single tuner, you can't share channels between the 2 sources. Edit: to change the channel on the box, you would need something like an IR blaster or serial cable to allow SageTV to control the box. - Andy

First ith the 150 you can only record either from cable or from the STB and not both since it is a single encoder card. Second, you will set the card to Svideo input and set the program guide to whatever you are using (such as I would set mine to Mediacom Digital Cable). Then when you set the program guide it will setup the Guide to show you al lthe programming for the STB. Now in order to change the channels, that is a whole other issue. You will need a devide to control the channel change on your STB.
Edit: I was too slow!

Hopefully I'm not hijacking this discussion, I can create a new thread if needed, but...
I've been using firewire to record for a while. It was great until Charter 5-c'd me a while back. So, I recently bought a pvr-150, and was hoping to be able to use it to pick up those channels I can't get over firewire. Anyway, here's my question: If I am using s-video over the pvr-150, how can I get it to change channels using firewire? I have the firewire capture (and channel change) working for all my non-5c'd channels using channel.exe to change channels through sgraphrecorder. Is there a place where you can tell the pvr-150 to use channel.exe to change channels for the channels that are recorded through s-video (i.e. non-analog, non local HD channels - I still want to use the tuner on the 150 for analog channels so I can have 2 tuners for that part - 1) pvr-150 2) firewire)? Thanks. Last edited by gtd885a; 06-24-2006 at 10:38 PM. |
