Specify Encoder #
My sage server has 6 tuners right now. I use the encoder merit setting to specify the order in which they should be used.
At various times while using sage, the tuners are also referenced by what appears to be their "number" within sage. I'll refer to 3 examples:/ 1. Nielm's web server lists the encoders on the home page. They seem to be in the same order all the time (1-6) 2. The mini-guide will show you what encoder is currently recording or will be used to record something. 3. With the status plug-in, when i telnet to it, it lists the encoders in that same order referenced above, and goes so far as to list them as recording_"tuner number" is there a setting in the sage.properties file that i can set for each of the tuners/encoders that will allow me to set their "number", 1-6 in my case? My goal is to have the encoders "numbered" so that it matches up with the same order that i have using for the merit settings. Just makes it easier for me to track stuff and quickly tell what tuner really will be used when I see the mini-guide say that encoder/tuner #3 will be used for some upcoming recording. In my head, I know what tuner is 3rd in line based upon encoder merit. I simply would to be able to control the encoder number as I control the encoder merit. My answer to this would be "No there isn't". This is based on the following:
I have 6 tuners on my Server as well. One of them is a USB tuner. Most of the time it is listed as the first tuner in the Parallel Recording Schedule but sometimes it is the second tuner. It stays either 1 or 2 in the Parallel Recording Schedule for as long as the SageTV Server runs without a restart. This is why I wrote my EncoderNames plugin - so that I could see in the Parallel Recording Schedule what was recording on what tuner and give it a smaller name that would be completely visible on that menu. The graphics on the download page show an earlier version that just shows the name in the properties file on the configuration popup. The newer version 0.6 also shows Last configured input used (composite/SVideo/TVTuner), the IR tuning plugin (if used) and the EPG lineup for each card. Sorry for the shamless plug but I thought this might help meet your needs a little. BobP. |

Bob,
Thank you for taking the time to respond and share your experience with this. No worries on the shameless plug ;-) Especially, when you contribute something to the community. All I contribute is noise, lol Scott |
