Do you use the Hauppauge Tweak Tool and other encoding Q's?
My playback has been pretty good thus far. I get some what looks like "posterizing" on high contrast scenes and sometimes the brights are really bright.
I decided to try bumping up the record settings, I thought I had set the default to 3Gb/hr but they were set to 2GB/hr, so I upped it to 3. I am have a couple things recording now so I haven't been able to check but I think that should solve it. The system is hooked to on old SDTV via s-vid out > composite > to RF converter > coaxial so I am not to worried about ever getting great PQ right now. (I built a great box and it is connected to crappy TV, soon to be replaced) Anyway, back to the point. So I had downloaded the tweak tool, I was going to use so I could quiet the Live or recorded TV, it was coming in real loud, I had the system volume as low as it would go otherwise the stereo and TV volumes were far to sensitive. This is a huge issue when switching from DVD (real quiet) to TV. WAF went from 9 to 3 in less than a second when her eardrums starting bleeding. Slightly off point, I have been trying to get the NVIDIA Purevideo to work to no avail, their tech support had me reinstall everything from scratch, since this is a new (and first) build I thought I would oblige. When I did I installed the older Hauppgauge drivers and while I never got tweak tool to work, (I have figuired out I skipped a step) the audio is much more bearable. Previously I had the drivers off the disc, which are not the latest. 1. Are you using the tweak tool or latest drivers, and to what advantage? (I ask because I am going to set up remote desktop so I can tweek this, assuming you can do so, I am going blind changing settings on the TV screen, I think a new HDTV is going to be coming sooner than later, especially now that I have Sage, I really like it, never had a PVR before) 2. If you are playing back on a crappy TV what do you usually record at.
