New Server For Client
I'm upgrading my HTPC.
I have installed SageTV V5 on my new HTPC and configured it. SageTV works on the new PC just fine. I enabled the server element. I have not put in the my license key yet! I have stopped the SageTV service on my old PC. I had configured my client on another PC to automatically connect to my (old) HTPC. I fire up the client, it tell me the connection has been lost and is attempting to restore the connection. It sit there forever with that mesasge. I disabled the firewall on the new HTPC and don't have one running on the client. How do I get the menu system back so I can tell it to disable the automatic connection to the server (so I can specify the new server)? OR Any thoughts on how to debug? |

If SageTV were still running on the old PC, you could simply run the client and disable the Auto Connect to Server option.
Since you are not running the old server, you can edit the client's properties file & clear the autoconnect_server_hostname property. - Andy

Start by doing this (assume your client is looking for the wrong IP address in the properties file):
1. Turn off the old pc. 2. Get the IP address of the new server pc (many ways - go to the command prompt and type ipconfig). 3. Check the properties file in the client (for example: autoconnect_server_hostname=192.168.1.10) 4. Make sure it has the correct IP address. If not, change it on your server to a static IP of the old server or change the client IP addresses to the new server's address. It's strongly recommended that you make the server a static IP so it does not change on resets. 5. If the Sage client properties file does have the correct IP of the new server go to the command prompt from your client and try pinging the server's IP. It may be that either the client or server's firewall does not have that IP in the trusted range. Mike |
