Sync issues and security
I want my nephew to be able to view my recordings and imported videos. So I bought a placeshift license.
I've setup dynamic menus and I only have the recordings, imported videos, pictures, and weather menus active. I want to ensure he cannot mess up my sage install, how can I make it read only? Also the audio and video are out fo sync, how do I fix that? Thanks |

bump
I'd love to be able to share my sageTV with family, but only want them to be allowed to watch recordings. Don't want them to setup recordings, delete recordings, change any settings, etc. And no live tv either. I'd love to see this feature added in the future. |

On the topic of A/V sync
I too had a proble with sync of audio/video when using a placeshifter over the WAN. My sync problem has been resolved (for SD playback) by selecting settings from the PLaceshifter server manager (deal you open to connect using placeshifter) and manually specifying encode parameters to match my data link instead of using SageTV's dynamic streaming system.
I am on a fairly bottle necked cable connection, set video bitrate to 300, and frames per second to 25. Things seem to playback much better. DQ
