LiveTV frame/audio repetition for 3-5 seconds

This problem is infrequent, but it does happen at least once while watching LiveTV (I've also seen it playing DVDs). At some point in the show it seems to get stuck in a fast one-frame loop for 3-5 seconds and then recovers (audio is a fast staccato like a machine gun). I think this is a playback issue and not a recording issue because it may not happen again after skipping back to a point before the problem.

I have drive caching/indexing turned off. It is an SATA 250 Gig drive with a separate partition for just recordings formatted with 64k blocks as suggested. I have a Hauppauge PVR150 combined with an ATI All In Wonder 7500. Motherboard chipset is ALI. It's a Celeron D 2.25Ghz board. Video quality is fine. I'm using the Intervideo NonCSS decoder. Changing the audio decoder doesn't seem to make a difference. I've installed the latest Hauppage 150 drivers and decoders. I've considered trying the Nvidia decoders also, but haven't installed the trial version yet.

New 150 drivers seemed to fix a timeline issue where the timer would never advance and any attempt at skipping would lock up the video playback. But it didn't fix this other repetition issue.

I'm not in front of the system at the moment, so I don't have all the details. If anyone has experienced this, let me know if there is a fix.

I noticed this also happens when watching a DVD. It definitely does not happen if I rewind and play the same part again. I'm sure this is some sort of playback issue, but not sure what is causing it.
