Windows Login appears after Sage Install.
How do you disable this? When rebooting the windows login now appears rather than going to straight to whatever it is called when you click the login in XP.
This wasn't happening until after I installed 1. Firefly software then 2. SageTV I need to disable this being you can't run the remote until logged in and I don't to have a mouse/keyboard sitting in my family room. This is on XP with only one user account and no password prompt. |

Did you have to install .NET for anything? It creates an ASP.NET user which causes the login to show. You can safely disable that account.

If that don't work, then you need to go to the Control Panel and open User Accounts. There you should beable to find the autologon feature for you the account you want.
I have Domain Logon on my systems, so my User Accounts is different now, but, this should point you into the area you need to look. -Polen

Or just use TweakUI for XP and set the autologin there (works with domains too btw).

goto run on the start bar, and type: CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 . deselect user must use user name and password. It will prompt you to set the account for auto logon. Add it in and then hit okay.

i use a couple regedits to login. as always, insert your usual disclaimer here about using regedit and you can royaly screw up your windows install if you incorrectly use it.
1) left click start>run, type 'regedit' and hit enter. 2) browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon 3) add a new 'string value'. name: autoadminlogon, with a vaule of 1 to enable, and 0 to disable (you want to enable it) 4) add a new 'string vaule'. name: defaultpassword, with a value that consists of the password for the user that you want to logon with. *WARNING* your password will be in plain text, readable by anyone that can view the windows registery. 5) change the existing string DefaultUserName to a vaule of the user you would like to logon with 6) *OPTIONAL* if you logon to a domain, you should also change the vaule in the string DefaultDomain to the domain you would like to logon to. if you use a network without a domain, just leave it set to your computers name. you can also add a secondary logon in case the primary user fails, change the strings AltDefaultUserName and AltDefaultDomain and also add in an AltDefaultPassword string with the password for the user in AltDefaultUserName. seems like a lot of work from what i explained above, but you're only adding 2 strings, and maybe changing 1 or 2 strings to different values. i think this is also the regedit that tweakui does aswell, just fyi. |

Well removing the .Net account worked just fine. Thanks for all the input.

Best way to fix this in the future without removing any accounts (because don't really know if there are side effects) is to install .net framework 1.1 service pack 1.
