WinTV-PVR 150

I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150 on Windows XP. I am running my HDTV Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD Cox Cable box into it using SVHS.

I downloaded the SageTV Recorder v1.5 and would like to try using it with my card to record program material from the cable box.

When I try and start up the preview function I get the following error:

There was a problem utilizing the specific capture configuration.
Unable to configure the audio capture portion of the filter graph
ErrCode=0x800004005

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the problem? I would really like to try the forced 16x9 mode on my HD channels and see if it will remove the letterbox bars.

Before anyone comments on the 16x9, I record our content, then burn to a DVD. We then play it on our 16x9 TV. I'm hoping someday to get a capture card that has component in and I can record via HD.

Any help or ideas with the error would be great.

Thanks

SageTVRecorder is an older product that cannot be used with newer cards like the PVR-150. You would have to use SageTV.

DOHH! Ok, I will give it a try.

Next, since you look to be the resident expert... what about a inexpensive HDTV capture card?

Thanks

... which isn't one of them.

But, I do know that you can only use an HD card to capture OTA HD with SageTV; it won't work with cable, though some people are using the box's firewire connection for that. Also, based on what others have said, there are no affordable component HD capture cards -- HD cards simply take the HD signal from OTA and save that data directly to the hard drive w/o having to do any sort of encoding.
