Question Using USB-UIRT to recieve and send

Maybe this is a dumb question but is it possible to use the USB-UIRT to both recieve from my remote control and send the commands to my DishTV reciever. I can't seem to figure out how to make it work. When I pick the opion in setup all I get is the capability to control a DirectTV box via serial cable. Thanks for the help

Yes you can do that. While I can't help you with the specifics because I use the USB-UIRT to control by GI C band 4DTV receiver, with the proper gml file you can do everything you want to do.

Mine is setup to control SageTV and also the 4DTV receiver, probably more complex than your setup is. So it'll do it. You will need Girder in order to do this however, or a simple means would be to program it via the Sage Interface where you select it. I'd try that first as girder is not free and you already have the other.

If you don't see the USB-UIRT listed as a Tuning Plugin option for controlling an external receiver, then double check that the USB-UIRT drivers are installed. Perhaps check to see if the USB-UIRT works as a receiver in SageTV in Detailed Setup -> Commands -> Remote Control Config.

Not the Drivers

I don't think it is a driver problem since the USB-UIRT is being used to recieve with no problems. Any other thoughts? Maybe I have to install the plugin?

The plugin should be installed when SageTV is installed. Maybe someone else can comment on that part.

But, the USB-UIRT is on the server PC, correct? A client can only use it as a receiver.

Yes on the server

In this case the server and the client are one in the same. So by default I guess the answer is yes. I haven't gotten anyone else to chime in so I guess I will talk with tech support. Thanks for the help
