Problems with Hauppauge Remote No-Focus Mod
Opus4 helped me a month or so ago with getting my Hauppauge silver remote working without focus. As he pointed out, all I had to do was to put the irremote.ini from his signature into C:\Windows and restart the IR application.
However, now it has quit working. I refreshed the irremote.ini file from Opus4's zip file and restarted the IR app. Even rebooted. The remote works fine when it has focus, just not when it doesn't. What should I check next? |

Did you try restarting ir.exe & then using the green power button while SageTV doesn't have focus, in order to force the remote software into SageTV mode?

That fixed it but where on earth did "using the green power button while SageTV doesn't have focus, in order to force the remote software into SageTV mode?" come from? I almost even understand what it does but why on earth doesn't Sage or Hauppauge pick up this support? I guess I need to program the "green power button" into my Sony RM-VL710 remote. |

This thing is so erratic I can't discern a pattern. It seems to quit responding to the remote after I go to standby and then return to active. Pressing the green power button clears things up and it works until I go to standby again. Restarting the IR makes it work again. Sorry. It isn't even that consistent. I can't find any pattern. I just upgraded to 5.0.4.92. Wonder if that's related? I recall (but can't swear) that it was working before the upgrade. |

Anyway... you have to do that becuse the [Default] section of that ini is where it interprets commands, by default. It contains a definition for the green power button to run SageTV & switch to that mode & that's how it gets activated to be able to use SageTV commands when something else has focus. (The ini file works according to which app has focus, normally.) Quote:
SageTV doesn't include it as part of the standard ini file modifications because it affects the use of that remote outside of SageTV & some people use it to control more than just SageTV. There is actually a way to make the remote work _only_ for SageTV, but that isn't 'playing nice' either. - Andy

You just have to edit the ini file & remove the {mode(Default)} command from the GRNPOWER=. Then, it will stay in SageTV mode permanently once you start SageTV. There are probably more options in that 'no focus' thread that otehr people use. Now you see why this option is not installed by SageTV as the default remote usage. - Andy

You fixed it again (and again). I removed the {mode(Default)} from the GRNPOWER=. Now I can't make it fail but it's early yet!
Keep your fingers crossed for me. |
