ui remote lines in sage.properties have multiple values

Is this normal or would it work better without multiple values?

Some of the remotes will register a "button down" code and a "button up" code. You'll need this to avoid the "it only works every other press".

Some remotes, e.g. the Hauppauge ones, give two code for each key press. You need to record both otherwise the button may work only every other press.

NB You may only get the two codes, if you keep pressing the same button repeatedly.

My remote codes are as follows. I am having a difficult time making heads or tails of what I need or don't need. Do I need to edit anything here? Would it improve performance? I really wish we could add a 1/2 second, perhapse even visually transparent pop-up somewhere on the SageTV GUI that could display each keypress. The information could include one or all of the following 3 criteria (name such as "back", the keyboard keystroke, or even the remote code) as each remote button is pressed. Perhaps we could have an option to turn these on or off (reference this post). This would go a long way toward helping people find problems with remote settings and make better use of optimal remote settings for themselves. Then add the list below with one keypress having 3 or more items and it REALLY gets time-consuming to figure out.

My remote code list (sage.properties file):

If I'm understanding you correctly, Sage already does this in the remote config page. Go to Show SageTV Commands linked to infared/keystroke. Press each button on the remote several times to figure out if it's sending more than 1 code for each button.

Setting up a remote is a pretty simple task. Just press each button several times in a row to see if it sends more than 1 code. If it does link both codes to the command you want to use. If not then you only need to link the 1 code it sends.

I guess I need to just write them each down so that I know which ones to delete. Kindof an arduous task when as you suggest, the 'remote config page' is supposed to take care of it.

You seem to have some entries with 3 codes which doesnt seem right. I'd have expected 1, 2 or perhaps 4. This shouldnt do any harm though.

FYI I've also noticed that codes from the same remote seem to start with similar digits (my hauppage remotes code start 27, 23, 25, etc) so you might have a few strays there. Again they wont do anyharm unless something else in the room happens to send out a code that matches one if this list.

If you can tell us what your remote is maybe someone with the same remote can check their properties file.

Remember that if a button sends out more than 1 code you will need to use the keyboard to navigate Sage while you program the keys. I usually navigate to the entry then press Enter on the keyboard followed by the remotes button, then Enter on the keyboard and the remotes button again.

I also found a quick press of the remotes button more reliable than a long press on a couple of the remotes I tried.

No need to write them down. Open the properties file and Sage so that you can see both at the same time. Or you can just delete them all from the properties file and set them up properly to begin with.
