Misc Image help (scanning, organizing, etc).

Alright all, as some of you know, I've got a media server going, and when I rip my DVDs to it, I scan the coverart while I'm at it so I've got nice 300dpi images for display on screen.

Works fine and dandy for most things, but every once in a while there's a troublesome one. The one right now that's giving me fits has a lot of "chrome" in it. And if you've tried to scan something like that, you know it has a tendancy to turn out black.

So I pose the question to you: Anybody know of a way to deal with that? Be it scanning technique, retouching, whatever.

Question 2:

I've got lots of misc images I've collected over the years, I really need to clean them up. I know there are duplicates in there. Anybody know a good program that will let me specify a bunch of source directories and help me organize them (move them, remove duplicates, etc)?
