Client setting changes modify my server/living room sagebox
A little background on the structure of my system:
The living room has a dedicated pc that runs a full installation of sagetv with the interface. It has 1 dual tuner card and does all of the recording, commercial skipping, etc. I have an office computer in another room that I want to run sage client on so I can watch commercial skipped programs and live tv at full quality. I also have placeshifter for my laptop (for traveling, etc). I am currently trying to set up commercial skip on my sage client computer (my office computer); however, when I try to do UNC mappings it changes the settings on my living room sage computer. I want the directory's to be the same on my living room computer and I just want my office computer to see the txt files for comskip. Am I missing something here? I have done search after search and tried everything I can find, but it seems that most people don't run the interface on their servers...any ideas? |

Sure. Even though you're defining the paths on your client they are the server paths. The server needs to know how to get to your media. They are there more for convenience. That way if you want to add another path for more media on the network you could do it on the client and not HAVE to do it from the server. I run the Sage service on my server. I also run the interface. I've always defined paths as UNC paths. When I added another media server on the network I was defined the new paths with Sage client on another PC on the network. For the most part Sage server will stream the media to the client. It's the server that definitely need access and to know where the media file are.
