Actisys IR-200L on a network computer

I have SageTV running on a server pc in my den and an HTPC that I currently run as a client next to my HDTV in my family room. The DirecTV receiver is next to the HDTV and I am currently combining the rf output on channel 4 with my antenna signal for distribution thruout the house. The server pc has a PVR250 and an accessdtv and they are working together nicely with the beta version of SageTV. What I want to do is control the DirecTV receiver channel via an Actisys transmitter controlled by SageTV.

Can I do this over the network; that is, connect the Actisys to the client HTPC serial port and leave the PVR250 in the server. I expect the answer is no so my next option is to move the PVR250 to the client HTPC and run SageRecorder on that machine with the Actisys connected to it. I assume in that configuration Sage will correctly control the Actisys over the network. If that won't work, my only option would seem to be to move the DirecTV receiver to my den, which is alot more work.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

I have SageRecorder setup as a network encoder with the actisys configured and SageTV
controls it perfectly. I am pretty sure that you cannot just remotely control the serial
port on a pc with the software as it is, but having said that I think you might be able to
run a serial cable from the SageTV pc in the den. Just a thought.

Thanks, John.

That's what I expected I would have to do but it's good to know that the Actisys is controlled properly over the network. I could go the long serial cable route - I've already got a serial cable strung in that general direction to an X10 interface module. But I'm probably best to move the PVR250 so it is close to the directv receiver to use the Svideo output.
