Thanks, Andy, this helps. I'm getting a line in the log that says "Ignoring playlist: <path to playlist> due to missing element:". Unfortunately, it doesn't say what the element is, and the playlist is one that I auto-generated from Windows Media Player. I even hand edited one and that didn't help.

So SageTV is seeing and ignoring my playlists, even though they are valid m3u or wpl playlists in a valid format. I guess it's time to file a bug report....

I'm out of time tonight, but using the debug log I've finally by trial and error gotten SageTV to take my test playlist.

Here is my tentative conclusion, which needs more testing to confirm:

SageTV will reject any playlist which contains an apostrophe (') character in any directory name or file name. Since many ripping programs automatically generate Artist\Album\Filename directory structures from the CDDB database information, this means that if there's an apostrophe in any of the CDDB information and it gets transferred to your ripped tracks, SageTV will reject the playlist.

I think this should be easily fixable in SageTV, and I think this really represents a bug in the import process.

In the meantime, since I haven't yet started ripping most of my CD's, I'm going to look into character substitutions to try to get rid of the apostrophes.

There may be other offending characters as well, but this one seems to be a problem for sure.

Jim
