The Nvidia purevideo decoders do decode AC3, at least it says so on the website. Maybe this link can help out.

Yes but I believe it only does that for Certified apps like WMP. You need to use SPDIF passthrough in SageTV. At least that's what I remember reading in other posts by those more knowledgeable then me.

That did the trick! So I uninstalled ffdshow temporarily in order to get WMP to use the NVidia decoders. That way when I went into the WMP options I was able to modify the NVidia audio settings. I didn't realize it was automatically set to output to 2 computer speakers. I changed it to output ac3 via SPDIF to my receiver and not only does it work it makes a HUGE difference! I know audio is important, and I've always had a decent surround setup, but having just setup this htpc I hadn't even thought about audio settings yet beyond plugging in the spdif to my receiver and making sure it was "working."

Much thanks!

You need to disable all codecs from the ffdshow audio decoder in its configuration panel. I think you can even tell ffdshow to disable all audio codecs on install.

Hi,

Can someone please tell me how to import this add on.....I have the base MC setup installed...it was easy...but for this addon the file ends in .xml....the instructions state go to Settings/Detailed Setup/Advanced and choose 'SageTV Application package' then select select SageMC_169.xml....the UI only lets you select the extension type .stv I can't select the SageMC_169.xml file becasue only .stv files get displayed....in windows explorer it is there.

I've installed SageMC16x9 first and love it, do I have to next install SageMC16x9 Latest Dev Build which is also a .xml file, then install this SageMC16x9 STV Latest Build v6_5 add on? Not sure if I need all 3 or what order is the best.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm running xp, SageTV v5.0.4.92, jave 1.4

Hi viper99,

exit Sage, open the file Sage.properties (or SageClient.properties if you are using a client), and change the line

STV=[...] SageTV\\SageTV\\STVs\\SageTV3\\SageMC_169.stv

to

STV=[...] SageTV\\SageTV\\STVs\\SageTV3\\SageMC_169.xml

and restart Sage, this should do it. The problem is that the SageMC base install still contains the STV named in the 'old' format .stv, and once you load an .stv application package, Sage (even the standard STV) only lets you select other .stv files ...

Oh, and btw, SageMC 6.5 is not an 'addon' any more, it is a full STV (thus you wouldn't 'import', but 'load' it ...)

When setting the location for meta_data_collection.xml, should the dialog box be the same as for setting the DVD Profiler root? I get two different entry screens, do I just enter the name of the collection file and not the location?

meta_data_collection.xml should be an entire path. I agree, the dialog box is messed up. It is like browsing, on the Root setting, but allows you to type in the XML setting. These should be the same. My DVD Profiler Root is on a network, so this does not allow me to browse to that location.

The DVD Profiler Root location, is the root location of the program, which is where SageMC pulls all it's information from.

Yeah, currently there is no SageMC specific file browse dialog which would let you select a file (and not a directory, I will have to code one at some point), so you'd need to type it in with the keyboard. But dont forget you can still set all SageMC settings in the property file directly, so if something doesnt work in the settings menu (which really is just a convenience thing) there is always a workaround ...

That's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure I didn't have something screwed up.

Okay, got the large preview pane working. Didn't realize I needed a complete restart of Sage to see it change.

I'm still having the issue though where (quite often) the preview window will not resize properly and will only show the bottom left corner of whatever the video playing is. Anyone else seen this?

Version 6.6 can be downloaded here.

I thought it might be a good idea to get this new version out asap so that everyone can enjoy MIM's great new icons once he finishes them up ...
I included some quick and dirty versions of the encoder specific 'currently recording' icons for the mean time.

Changes in 6.6:

- addded HDTV icons in guide
- use separate "currently recording" icons for each tuner
- added three customizable main menu options which can be linked to any internal Sage screen (enable in MainMenu Options menu)
- title of 'My Menu' screen can now be set on options page
- added Erase button to keyboard entry on options page
- added option to set color for options menu background (try 0x5E86C3 for MCE theme)
- added option to disable guide coloring
- reorganized SageMC options into logical groups
- fixed day not updating in Guide By Channel
- fixed detail info not showing up when Guide is shown initially

Oh, and I included the latest version of nielm_sageimdb.jar in the zip file which will fix the IMDB issues.

Dirk

Thank you for the VERY nice updates!

OT. Is that RC show pretty good? I'll have to record that for my Father-In-Law who is coming to stay this weekend. When I had more time, I spent several hours racing cars, or flying park flyers.

Actually, I have no idea ... The screenshot shows an install using the NullEncoder, not my real recordings

Oops, I didn't realize this was actually going to happen. I fixed the problems with the glassy icons last night. I'll whip up the encoder specific curr_rec icons tonight and finally post 'em!

Aloha,

That's funny. I didn't know that existed. Good way to test things out on a system without capture devices.

I wonder though, is there a way to install just Studio, so that you can do Studio work on another PC, without having to buy another license of Sage?
