'Placeshifting' Technologies...?
Didn't Sage implement the phrase/phrase 'placeshifting'? It is now becoming ubiquitous for all the "bring your media to wherever you are" hardware/services out there... The irony is that Sage is mentioned almost as an afterthought.

I wonder if Sage ever received a trademark for 'placeshifting'? The technology will most likely always be different between devices so that won't help them---its all in the name.

I don't think SageTV came up with that term, a quick search on google yields many articles using that term way before SageTV introduced it.

It's a pretty obvious term too. If recording TV shows to watch them at a different time is Timeshifting, then shouldn't recoding TV shows to watch them at a different place be Placeshifting?

What they should do is try to get it into the vernacular as "Saging" as tivo did for timeshifting.
I TIVO'd it, then I taped it, then I brought it in... |
