Full-screen resolution on second display

I'm running SageTV on a TV through an S-Video out. My primary monitor runs at 1280x1024, while the TV maxes out at 1024x768.

When I set the client to fullscreen on the TV, it defaults to the primary monitor's resolution. If I set that to 1024x768 THEN start SageTV, it will fullscreen to the right resolution and stay that way, even when I reset the primary monitor to its former setting. But that's a cumbersome fix.

I'd like to set SageTV to fullscreen at 1024x768. Support has been very helpful, and pointed me to the "ui/last_win_XX" settings in Sage.properties, but fiddling with them hasn't fixed this for me.

It's not a big problem by any means, but it's a little irritating to have to run SageTV in windowed mode on the TV. Is there a fix or workaround that anyone's found?

What are you using for video card?

If you are using nvidia you can get tvtool8.

There is an nview tab in it that allows you to set your TV to primary display, thus fixing your problem I think.

Then if you go into control panel and nview area, enable the advanced settings, choose tools tab there is a tool to move icons and startbar to the secondary monitor. I'm hoping tvtool adds functionality to automatically do this in the future because you have to do it everytime you enable the tv and saving the profile doesn't help.

It works pretty well. The only bummer is that anything you open comes up on the primary display first and has to be moved off. You can set individual settings on each application to remember last position and they will come up on the secondary, but I'm hoping nvidia in the future puts in an option to automatically send all opened windows to any monitor I want so that only sage will come up on the TV.

Anyway, with it set up like this I am able to maintain two different resolutions. 800x600 on tv and 1152x864 on the monitor. And I can use the monitor for other things while sage is running.

If you want to do this however, make sure you go into task manager->processes and set sagetv process to realtime priority so that sagetv gets full priority over everything else, otherwise you may get stuttering video and audio.

I'm doing this on a 1.3 gig athlon, so imagine how cool it could be on a 2 gig or higher machine.
