Setting up a remote with USB-UIRT problem
I was setting up my Harmony 659 remote to work with sage, and I ran into a problem. The commands that came from my original PVR remote (a motorola) would only show up in sage as one command for every button, so I gathered up a bunch of old remotes and had my harmony remote learn a bunch of different IR command of which I renamed as appropriate. I used one command from my original pvr remote that happened to be the select button. However, now everytime I push that button it appears that it sends multiple IR commands. Thus, I now have a bunch of command codes linked to the select button for sage. My question is how can I get rid of all of them, because I can't use the unlink tool in the same menu of sage because it always seem to be a different code.
Thanks Craig |

If SageTV is controlling the USB-UIRT & you want to clear out all the old IR codes that have been learned, then close SageTV completely & remove all of these lines from your properties file: ui/rc_mappings/XXXX.
They may be in sage.properties and/or sageclient.properties, depending on your setup. - Andy

The sage.properties file is located in your SageTV directory & you'll probably want to make a backup copy before editing the file.
The basic instructions for editing it are on p. 224 of the v5 PDF manual. that should get you started, but if something isn't clear, let us know what part. - Andy

I still don't understand how to get into the sageTV directory to get to the properties.
EDIT: Ok, I've found them. I've delete the entire entries and know something isn't right. Should I have just deleted the numbers associated with entry? Last edited by craigap; 05-09-2006 at 07:28 AM. |

No-deleting the entire entries is fine. Now you need to relearn the remote to Sage. Some remotes will pass 2 different codes so keep that in mind. Press and release. A command number should show up. Learn it again-press and release. You'll either see one or two numbers. If you see two you'll need to do it twice for each commands.

And, if you do need to do it twice for each command, you're going to have to use the keyboard between each learn process. If you press a different remote button, it will reset back to the other button's first code. (Just in case you are tempted to start using the arrow & OK buttons on the remote to do this once those have been learned...)
