Using Multiple Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500MCE
I just installed a second PVR-500MCE pci card into my sagetv machine running windows XP pro + SP2.
When I look in windows device manager I do see 4 Video Carpture devices. Although Two have the same name. Eg. Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (23xxx) (Tuner 1) Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (23xxx) (Tuner 1) Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (23xxx) (Tuner 2) Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (23xxx) (Tuner 2) Now within SageTV I see 4 capture devices. 1 - 4 When I try to configure to use 4 devices though I get an error on two of them. #3 and #4 give errors. The way I am attempting to test is go into the capture device setup screen go to channel setup and try to click view on a channel. It gives me the following error: Watch request failed. ERROR (-12): There was a null object requested to playback This error does not get written to the sage debug log file either. I have looked very closely at my device setup here is pci bus and irq info. First Hauppauge 500MCE Card: PCI Slot 2 Capture 1 IRQ 18 Capture 2 IRQ 19 Second Hauppauge 500MCE Card: PCI Slot 5 Capture 1 IRQ 17 Capture 2 IRQ 18 I was thinking it might be an irq conflict but if so why does both not work when only 1 is sharing an irq. |

First Hauppauge 500MCE Card: Capture 1 IRQ 11 Capture 2 IRQ 5 Second Hauppauge 500MCE Card: Capture 1 IRQ 5 Capture 2 IRQ 7 Works just fine for me. Have you actually tried to capture 4 shows at once to see if it works or not? I've heard of the preview window not working for people, but everything else working perfectly. |

You know what. Your right it works just fine minus the preview not working and the error on view.
