Upgrading to V5 question?

I have read the install instructions for updating to a newer version of SageTv, but I still have some questions? When you install a new version of STV over an older version like it says in the instructions does it retain the infared codes for the remote control you are using, and the IR blaster codes for channel changing on your STB, and your Logo's and the favorites you have? The instructions say to backup your current file structure, but doesn't really say it would be needed if the install went well otherwise. And what about all the setup configuration options you have from the previous setup? Do these have to be configured again once the new install is complete? I would be upgrading from V4 to V5.

AFAIK, yes.

Nothing, the backup is only for the case if something goes wrong. Oh, there is one thing, SageTV resets to the default (SageTV3.xml) STV on install, you'll have to change back (or re-import your stuff) after the install.

They're retained.

All of your current settings should be retained. It just switches back to using the default STV, which is only importatn to you if you are using a custom one.
