SageTV v5 and PAL_B tuning problems w/ PVR-500

Hello all,

first time posting but being reading a lot and could not find a solution so far.

I have serious problems trying to tune my PVR-500 card with an analog signal (antenna/cable). When I select my country (Italy) and start tuning the card I get 368 channels but very few of them are well tuned, the majority of the channels visible in my area are missing. Please note that Italy uses PAL_B broadcasting system.

With this setup I have checked in sage.properties and it's using the following parameters:

mmc/country=Italy
mmc/country_code=39
mmc/video_format_code=8

Digging in the forum/manual I have seen that I could better use mmc/video_format_code=16 (for PAL_B): I have applied the change (with all sage instances stopped) but nothing changes, still no picture.

Second attempt has been manually changing the country: I have set mmc/country_code=44 (UK) and restarted the card's tuning for cable: now channels are all tuned but the channel number does not correspond to the right ones (and there are only 107) and the quality is very poor. The reason why the channels do not match is because by selecting 44 as the country code it tunes over a PAL_I system.

Please note that using the AMCap_DX9.exe tool that comes with the hauppauge drivers I'm able to tune all channels in PAL_B using the right channels numbers. Looks like SageTV has big problems tuning PAL_B systems ...

To help troubleshooting here is my info:
SageTV v5.0 registered
PVR-500 MCE using 2.0.35.23348 drivers
(I have tried several driver flavours but it's all the same: wintv tunes fine, not SageTV)

Thanks for your help

Don't change contry code, just try to set video_format_code
AnalogVideo_PAL_B 16
AnalogVideo_PAL_D 32
AnalogVideo_PAL_H 128
AnalogVideo_PAL_I 256
AnalogVideo_PAL_M 512
AnalogVideo_PAL_N 1024
AnalogVideo_PAL_60 2048

shutdown SageTV to make a new change!

It's what I have done (setting it to 16 for PAL_B) however the 368 channels in the lineup are not properly tuned, only very few of them are. Furthermore if I start a manual scan of the frequencies it tunes few channels in the 1-100 range, then it goes very quickly from 100 onwards and nothing is found.

My opinion is that PAL_B is not working in SageTV or the frequencies passed to it are not the correct ones.

Setting the country code to UK (44) it makes a 107 channels lineup with almost all channels but with different channel numbers and a not so good quality.

This is a known bug (I for one have reported it several times). Apparently it has been fixed (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...&postcount=10), but I don't think the fix has been released

I confirm that this problem has been successfully fixed by version 5.0.2!
