Converting from DirectTivo 2 tuners, how?
OK,
so I'm totally sold on SageTV , but I can't seem to figure out how I go about doing the dual tuner option that DirectTivo does so easily Currently, my Tivo has one satalite card that supports both tuners in my Tivo, but I can't seem to find an equvillent option as just a DirecTV tuner. I read about the DTV-D110, etc, but they seem to be single tuners, and I only have one card for them. So, can anyone help me find a dual DirecTV tuner that accepts just one card, so I can convert myself to Sage John |

You'll need 2 reciever boxes.

I believe you'll need one DirectTV tuner box for each tuner in Sage you will want to set up. You will connect Sage/PC tuners to the s-video and audio output of your DirectTV box. In your case 2 boxes will be required.

Yea, but what about the other DirectTV credit Card I'll need for the second box? I need to buy another one? Would DirectTV be a better source of info? J |

When you buy a new receiver box, it comes with an acess card already. If you buy a used receiver, you should be able to contact Directv and purchase an additional card from them.
However, IIRC, they charge around $50 or so for just the card, and you can usually get a new receiver with access card from someplace like bestbuy or circuit city for not much more. |

The new card from DirecTV is $20 and they overnight it to you. If you buy a receiver from CC or BB that's just like buying a 1 year commitment - well that's what it was like in the past, i'm not sure about the new leasing deal. I'd buy a D10 from ebay, order the new card from DTV and own the box if I were you - well wait - that's what I did when I dropped my DTivo.

If you get a D10 - I'd highly suggest getting a D10-100. That model has serial control on it and also allows you to disable the sat box's OSD so that you don't see it behind the SageTV osd.

I think those are mostly old posts, that problem has been fixed. I use D10-100 boxes and haven't had a problem with serial control of them.
Edit: Oh when you're looking on ebay for the receivers, some may say that they are including the card. It doesn't matter because DTV won't let you activate it if someone else already has, they'll make you buy a new one anyway. You can however call them and have them move the card from your DTivo to the new receiver - of course this means that the DTivo is no longer active...
