Sky, SDI, Sweetspot and Sage

If I get a modified Sky box with SDI output, connect that to a Sweetspot SDI card, can SageTV make use of it? Am I then recording an uncompressed (and therefore quite sizeable) stream?

Information on this is a bit scarce so any hints gratefully received.
