I bought your importer for Beyond TV, but am contemplating a switch to SageTV. Do I have to pay for the donationware version of your SageTV XMLTV importer?

Yes, you'll have to make a new donation.

Stephane,

I've got an enhancement request that may prove beneficial for us FTA'ers in North America. I've come to realize that many of the FTA channels on this side of the globe do not have EPG data available anywhere. Plus, there are some feeds that you would not expect to have any.

My request is an ability to override the standard "No Data" block in the EPG data on a channel-by-channel basis for those channels I've added to the lineup manually because I cannot find a source for them. This would allow me to have something like "Russia Today Programming" show up in the EPG vs. "No Data". I don't know if this is even something that your plugin could accomplish, but I'd appreciate it if you'd consider it.

The reasoning behind it is the fact that in the EPG, all you see is a channel logo (which isn't very obvious in most cases) for these channels followed by row-after-row of "No Data". A custom replacement for "No Data" would at least tell me at a glance, what I can expect to be on these particular channels.

Thanks!

I've been using the latest donator version of xmltv for some time. However a couple of days ago I noticed I had no tv guide data.

I use xmltv gui to pull the guide data from the radio times website and digi-guide. Any ideas as I've changed nothing in months?

My xmltv importer log reads the following.

This cannot be replaced. Either channels have program data or don't. To replace "No Data" would require to add bogus data and I can't think of a way to do this that would seem natural.

However, it's very easy for you to create an XMLTV file for each of your channel that doesn't have EPG data. For each channel create one 24hour program per day and you're done.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Your XMLTV file is not well formed. You'll have to contact the grabber author so that in the future it will remove any non compliant XML data from the XMLTV file.

Meanwhile, simply open the XMLTV file in Notepad and replace the " " (withouth the quotes) offending entity and replace it by a space.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Just installed 4.0 release. Works fine. Thanks

New here, so sorry if this is a silly question: can you use this tool to update only select channels that the Sage EPG is missing?

No you can't. You can only import a complete lineup.

Enhancement Sugggestion

Used the importer today and I have an enhancement suggestion;

In the lineup manage channels screen, please implement a mechanism to delete multiple channels simultaneously.

It's not obvious that channels can even be deleted. I eventually figured out that it's necessary to click on a channel outside a text entry field, right click and select delete this channel.

It is possible to select multiple channels but not possible to bulk delete them

The delete key does not work for deleting channels. This would be the obvious solution: select multiple channels, press delete key.

This would have saved me A LOT of time and multi-clicking today.

Just a thought. Good tool otherwise.

Peter

Problem getting it to work

Hi,
I was using v6.0 of Sage, and decided to install 6.5 as a fresh install for a number of reason.

So, I have installed Sage 6.5, and also the latest version of the XMLTV Importer. I then run Sage to set it up to use the XML, and this is where I have problems.

When I choose Cable box and enter the Zip 00000 the next screen has no XML listings on it to choose.

I found the FAQ post on the importer site which lists what to check for, and:

I am running Java 1.6
I cannot see an xerces.jar file
I have the entries in the sage.properties file
I have the xmltv folder with the right files in it
I do have the folder Guide data.

What I dont have, thought, is an xmltv.properties file anywhere.
Where can I get one of those please?

Thanks,
Simon.

Edit:
Just ran the repair option and I still dont have a xmltv.properties file.

You should uninstall the Importer (keeping your settings) and install it again. This will recreate all it needs to work.

Are you running Windows Vista / 7?

Stéphane.

Will try that.
I am XP Pro SP2 on this machine.

Just removed and re-installed, still no xml.properties file.

Fixed:
The importer had created another SageTV directory inside the SageTV directory with the XML files.
I copied them into the right directory and it is working now.

Thank you.

Me again.
I have had to switch to a new Sage box.
I installed all the bits, and then copied the xmltv import directory and data files from the old box onto the new box. This was done so I could keep my channel data.

I then uninstalled and reinstalled xmltv thinking it would take care of any problems.

However, when I try to run the programme I get the following error in the log:

20090602 21:48:05.419 - Error - Unexpected error :Padding is invalid and cannot be removed.

Edit the settings.xml file in the Importer config & log directory (C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\LM Gestion\SageTV XMLTV Importer, or C:\ProgramData\LM Gestion\SageTV XMLTV Importer)

And remove the <password value="XXXXXXXXXXX"/> line you'll find in the <SMTP> node.

The SMTP password is encoded just in case, and apparently when you move this to another machine it crash (I wasn't expecting this, just the password to be invalid).

Regards,
Stéphane.

Yesssssss; Thank you.

One point, I have noticed that in the channel setup area the channel names have all be shortened, this had happened before the move of servers.

This means that Channel Icons dont work as more than one channel has the same name. i will have to use the channel section to change some other names to get the icons to work. No big deal, just thought I would let you know.
