PVR 350 recognized wrong?

I have been trying to update my drivers for my Hauppage WinTV-350 and everytime I get it reinstalled, it shows as WinTV-PCI II. Is this right? Now my Sage TV doesn't recognize my input tuner. Everything was working more or less ok before I updated, but the video quality was not as good as with the WinTV 2000 applications, so I made the registry changes and then updated the drivers. I ran the HWClear and followed the directions to the letter. When I looked in the .inf file that I downloaded from the 250/350 site it says "pci II".

My current machine is an epia M10000 with 512 Ram and WinTV 350.

Also of note - each time I run HWCLear my USB ports are disabled unless I reboot a few times... I've also got the lateset VIA4in1 drivers installed.

Is everything working OK through the WinTV application?

If so, while SageTV is not running look at your properties file at the line mmc/ignore_encoders, what's listed if anything?

It showed WinTV PCI II in the ignore. Yes the win tv apps all work. I uninstalled Sage and reinstalled with no result. I finally uninstalled Sage, deleted all of the files in the directories, re-installed and it works now.

I'm not sure what happened to cause this, but I'd be interested to know so that I don't do it again!

Other than this issue, I absolutely love the product. Keep up the great work!

Since it listed the device, all you really have to do is just delete the device from that property and restart the application and you'll be fine. This happens when something "bad" occurs with the tuner/capture device and SageTV decides to ignore it the next time because it thinks it's not working properly.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Hopefully there won't be a "next" time, but if there is, I will just remove it from the properties and start again. Like I said, I've got it all working now and everything is great

Sorry, I'll have to have Jeff chime in on what "technically" causes this to happen.

By the way - I think it's very cool that the President and CEO of Frey reads and posts to this board. What do you think the chance of Bill Gates reading Microsoft tech support are?

Reading, or replying to?

I would bet hard money he has read the MS support boards before. Maybe not recently, but in years past. But I could be wrong I guess.

Dan, I was just kidding. I understand your explanation probably better than anything Jeff would come up with.
