Final word on sp2?. and sluggish Sage with HDTV

About the time SP2 for Windows XP came out I had just finished building a nice stable HTPC. I heard a few scare stories about updating XP so I turned off updates and have enjoyed the box ever since..

But time marches on.. I recently upgraded to Sage 4.0 and added OTA HDTV. It was an interesting upgrade that I will post about later in an older thread. Anyway, everything is running fairly well but Sage is very sluggish when handeling anything HD.. Like I push pause and 5 seconds later it happens, or exit to guide can really take a long time.. Once video is up it is smooth just like it always is in SD. I have Athlon 64 2.3ghz 1gig ram, etc. I don't think its a hardware problem.
With HD Sage just simply lacks the robust response it had (and still has) with SD.

Anyway, do you guys think I would see any benefits from upgrading to sp2?
Any other ideas?

My first SageTV was done with a freshly formatted XP Pro disk and I downloaded SP2 and all updates at that time (like, December of '05). It has run OK. I haven't applied any updates since then.

Upgraded to sp2 last night. I encountered no problems. Don't know for sure if it helped my HDTV sage sluggishness because nothing was on in HD late last night..
