Favorites: Program ID vs title

Can this be overcome:
We have a favorite defined, on FOOD-TV channel, "Barefoot Contessa".
A movie whose title is the same got recorded by SageTV.
The two are unrelated.

I would think the favorite would be based on the show ID coded number, not the title.

Huh?

You could limit the favorite to just the Food channel.

that would be nice if it could be based that way, but a workaround would be to limit the favorite to the Food-tv channel.

You could also do a keyword favorite and put in BareFoot Contessa plus one of the names of an actor or director that shows up in the show description.

I do this for the show "The Office" since there is a US and British version.

Ah - I thought SageTV, internally, used the EPG's show ID code rather than the title.
What, then, is the purpose of the show ID that the EPG data providers use?

I'm not sure if Sage uses the show ID when determining when to record a favorite. I don't think it does since the show ID changes all of the time, and is unique for each show.

The show ID is used by Sage to determine whether or not you have watched an episode of a favorite. So basically, it looks for the favorite by title, checks if it matches your First Run/Rerun setting, and then checks the show ID to see if it already has it recorded, or if you have already watched it. If everything is true but the last two then it records the episode.

Just to confirm: as it says when you add a new Favorite from the Favorites Manager (New by Title), the fav is based on the show's title.
