Sat Box, Usb-UIRT, Need info
I will be moving back home where they have Satellite. I'm not sure if it is Dish network or Directtv but either way I will be moving from coax cable with my Pvr500 to a sat box solution. I just want to be prepared for the change, I know I will need two boxes if I want to want to have the recording of two shows at one time and I will need a Usb-UIRT, can some one give me a heads up on the setup, I use a Imon reciever with my Harmoney remote so I will not need to use the UIRT for a reciever just to send the commands to the boxes. thanks in advance

The USB-UIRT can control upto 3 boxes. I've controlled two before. I used ir emitters that came with the cable boxes. Many systems have them for controlling VCRs. They plugged into a splitter (3.5mm to 2x2.5mm from radioshack) that i attached on the back of the usb-uirt. I had no problems installing the drivers or getting sage to work with it.
I don't remember what I did in sage to tell which was which. Maybe that is because I didn't have to since both boxes were the same. I haven't had it working for a while since i took the boxes off the server while I was remodeling my house. I'm starting to put things back together now but I killed a client and can't afford to rebuild until may. |

it comes with the main emitter on the front where the receivers are. I have a stereo spliter on the back with two single emitters plugged in. but it does not come with the wired emitters. Some places call them "stick-on" emitters; Like this.
Because you will be mostlikely using identical stb's you will need two separate emitters taped directly to the ir reciever of each stb to avoid bleed over. I used black tape so it wasn't so visible. |
