Channel problems - no signal
At this moment in time I'm just trialing Sage (4.1.11 beta) to see if it suits my needs, the main reason I'm trying Sage is for the live tv streaming.
I've got 2 media center pc's, one with a Hauppage PVR150, Sage is working perfectly on this and I can stream to my laptop which is exactly what I'm after. My other media center pc has a Hauppage Nova-T (UK DVBT) installed and this is the one I'm having problems with. When I first installed Sage, I setup my tv card, told it to scan for channels, it didn't find any, choosing to enable all of them and then trying to view any didn't work. There was about 69 channels in the list, I didn't choose to use an EPG, Sage just attempted to download the channel list itself. I've searched through these forums and found posts todo with configuring the frq file etc. and have subsequently downloaded ScanChannelsBDA and produced the log file using this app, I've then created the Sage frq file from this log and overwritten the one produced by Sage. Running Sage after this and attempting to view live tv, I still get no signal, however my list of channels now reads 150, which doesn't correlate as initially there was 69 and the new frq file has 62. Trying to re-configure the source and scan for channels produces no joy as it doesn't manage to find any. I've spent the last couple of nights trying to sort this out without any joy and am beginning to become very frustrated. If I can get this to work then I believe Sage is exactly what I'm looking for. If anyone can help, then I'd really appreciate it. |

Post your scanchannels output and your frq file and we'll have a look. Are you using a lineup? XMLTV or TVTV?

I'm not using any lineup at the moment.

Is there a particular reason you are not using a lineup? Best results are found when you properly select the lineup for the area. Sage uses this data heavily.

The main reason I wasn't using a lineup is simply to avoid going to the trouble until I had Sage working, however this evening I've gone to the trouble of setting up xmltv using dspreadbury's excellent guide in the Sage UK forum.
I now have a guide, but still no signal on any channel. After re-setting the source up to use the xmltv guide I checked the frq file to find it had been reset so copied my one back over the top, but again still no signal |

Its not clear to me from your description, but I believe this may work. Take both of the tv tuners and install them in the working media pc. Then use the sage client software on all other pc's, including the other media pc. The Client \ Server ability is one of Sage's best features. So, even tho the tv tuners and storage drives may be in the server your clients will seamlessly appear with full Sage tv features. (when lauching the application on all client pcs you can either use the specific client application or lauch the full application with -client appended. Like this "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageTV.exe" -client)
This may allow you to completely skip the problem your dealing with.

Okay, first just try with one channel. Looks like your itv1 is correct, so open Sage, don't tune, assign your xmltv lineup to your tuner, then remap the lineup's ITV1 channel to channel 1 (from your FRQ). This mapping is what tells Sage that ITV on the lineup is 1 in the FRQ. See if that works, then you can expand it to other channels.

Ok, I've followed your advice, I changed my XMLTV guide to only include ITV1, I've stripped the frq file to only include ITV1 and still I get no signal.
I've had Media Portal running just fine and I was able to pull out the freq settings from the media portal log file for ITV1 and verified these are identical to those in the frq file. I've turned debug output on in the sage.properties file and in the subsequent logs I can see it's loading the frq file and verifying there is only one channel in there. |

I've spent this evening setting up SBDARecorder with the same setup I've been trying with Sage, i.e. just ITV1, and after a few tweaks (setting the correct mux to use) managed to get it working, curiously enough with the same frequency settings as I've been using in my frq file for ITV1.
Even though this works, I'd still like to be able to do this natively in Sage, so if anyone has got any more suggestions, I'm willing to give them a whirl... Thanks everyone for your help so far! |

Did you map ITV1 to channel 1 in your lineup?

Yes I did, for simplicity I made sure that xmltv and the frq file only had ITV1 and when I set up the source again, in the channel setup screen I clicked the remap button and set ITV1 to channel 1.

Nope, still not working, though to be fair haven't tried anything else since last night.
Have attached frq and sage.properties files. |

Crystal Palace transmitter? I think 482000 is incorrect, the frequencies for CP are as follows:
1=C25,505834,0,0,8 2=C22,481834,0,0,8 3=C32,561834,0,0,8 4=C28,529834,0,0,8 5=C34,578166,0,0,8 6=C29,537834,0,0,8 I think the mux you're looking for is 481834, try that.

I am using the Crystal Palace transmitter (based in Central London).
Take a look at my .frq file for the info. I have also attached my lineup that I use for this card. I am having varied success with the DVB-t card (Nova-t). A few days ago it was working beautifully, however I had to remove the DVB-t source from Sage the other day as it just wasn't picking up the signal well. I got these frequencies from the Hauppauge software that comes with the card (Win2000). Hope this helps |

Hauppauge rounds the frequencies. It rounded up or down on my setup, and I had mixed and variable results on some channels until I used the exact frequencies above. Don't know if it always makes a difference, but it did for me.

I've just quickly tried changing the frequency to what you suggested and still no joy. At this moment in time I'm pretty sure my frq file is setup correctly as the 482000 frequency works fine in SBDARecorder and in Media Portal, therefore I'm assuming there must be something else wrong with my setup.
I'll probably have another play with it all tomorrow, thanks for your help. |

Remember this is still a beta - if it's still not working, send all the details/files to betatest@sagetv.com - I'm sure Qian will then be able to see what I've missed.
