Changing UI language in sage.properties?

HI,

is the a way to change the UI language in the sage.properties file?

I upgraded to 4.1.11 and now everything is in german. I tried changing it from within the SageTV UI but this doesn't work. It always switches back to german.

thx

I think you would just clear the ui/translation_language_code property. I'm not sure why setting it to English in the UI wouldn't work.

This is as intended. We have already learned our German from this Sage release and look forward to the forth coming Galic release. This is all in order for Sage to fullfill their ABC7D corporate community service requirements.

Yes, there is a tongue in my cheek.

There was nothing set in ui/translation_language_code

But I just remembered that a changed the regional settings in windows to Germany. Just moved here from Ireland. I put it back to Ireland and now everything is English again.

i made a totally fresh installation. the result is, beside i choose english as ui language, that is in fact on german.
and both,
ui/translation_country_code=
ui/translation_language_code=
are totally blank (not a hidden character or something else...)

always the same... one try to set the windows environement to ireland (back) one other changes the timezone.
theses settings have their sense. other applications wont work correctly, if they ar not settet correct.

the only way ist that sage must make sure, that they are working.

Aloha,
a save way to get the English UI back for now is to delete the following files:

In the SageTV directory: SageTVCoreTranslations_de.properties

In the STV\SageTV3 directory: SageTV3_i18n_de.properties

then restart sagetv.

Remember that these are beta releases, to catch those mistakes!

yes, sure... there are many ways drive to rome!

i knew that since these days, as sage made the first steps in UI-multilanguage.

but again, regardless if it is a beta or not, why add more bugs and more (buggy) functions with every release?

Beta software is not for everyone. I write stuff for industrial control (PLC, HMI and a little "C" for flow calculations). Sometimes when working with multiple issues, more steps are taken backwards than forwards but ultimately the backward steps culminate in forward progression. Such is the nature of these things.

I have backed out of this current beta run due to WAF. I don't mind dealing with these things but my wife gets frustrated and I must give due consideration.

i know about beta and its restrictions. i also work as computer scientist.
but usually there is a quality dept. which only have the role to test and approve new versions.
i think sage should expand this department.

-Roedel

btw. i run two servers. one in productive environement with 6 clients and one MVP the other as test server only for viewing and testing new (beta) releases.
the productive one runs at version 2.2.8 which is (at least for me) the latest stable productive release...
