Cannot Open Sage TV

I'm hoping that someone can help me with this problem. I had been running version 2 of Sage with a Hauppauge 250 PVR, and the recording occasionally lagged and paused, so I took a friend's adivce to update the drivers for my 250 as well as Nvidia and Directx 9.0c. After udating those drivers, when I went to open Sage rather than seeing the normal menus, just a garbled screen came up. I thought potentially the problem was that I wasn't running the latest version of Sage, so I downloaded and installed version 4, however, I'm still having the same problems. I can't even get into Sage to change any of the settings, if that's what the issue is. Has anyone run into this problem, or have any advice for it?

Easy way would be copy your SageTV directory to a safe place. Uninstall Sage. Delete the whole SageTV directory. Install and configure Sage. Once you have it running go to your safe place and copy back the wiz.bin file and you'll get back your recordings, favorites, etc. You haven't updated in such a long time and then you upgrade a lot all at once it's probably best to start with a clean install.

This was happening before the SageTV version upgrade, though. It sounds like there was something messed up in the video driver or DirectX. Before trying a completely freesh install: while SageTV is not running, try changing this line in sage.properties:

ui/accelerated_rendering=false

If using service mode or a client, edit sageclient.properties.

This disables the 3D Acceleration option. If SageTV looks OK after that, then double check the video driver & DirectX.

I thought that the problem was potentially the new DirectX 9.0c update that I had done, so I tried to re-install that, but it keeps telling me that I have the most current version installed, and stops the installation. I haven't found a way to uninstall the DirectX driver, and reinstall it.
