Setting up DirecTV Channel Lineup
Hi all,
I've installed the ATI TV Wonder Elite w remote tv tuner card and got it working on my Windows XP system. I'm using DirecTV. The card csme with software but it's pretty basic and I wanted more control. I found SageTV and the product looks great. I downloaded and am working with the 15 day free trial. The trouble is I'm having a devil of a time with the setup and keep getting stuck at one point. I've been using the manual but can't get around this issue. My video shows up under SVideo and Composite video. I chose SVideo and would love to select "Use external cable or satellite receiver to tune channel" but based on my receiver (DSX5500) it doesn't seem like I can do that. So, I chose "Don't configure tuning." I'm in Los Angeles, so I chose the US XMLTV option > satellite > DirecTV Los Angeles - Los Angeles. The system then tells me to wait for the info to be downloaded. I wait and I wait and nothing happens. I use the Microsoft Firewall and opened the port, opened all of the SageTV ports, disabled the firewall (I still use a router), restarted a couple times, uninstalled the software, reinstalled the software, tried disabling channels and then re-enabling them, tried DirecTV USA, tried other local provider listings, and on and on. Nothing seems to make a difference. Whenever I choose a provider, I watch the lights on my router and modem and the lights don't flash as if any information is going out or coming in. When I look at the system setup, it says that the next epg update is in 0 minutes. Something's not working but I can't understand what or why. Can anyone advise? I'd greatly appreciate the help. |
