HIP & MCE Remote - Double key presses
Ok so I've almost got this working but now whenever I press up, down, left or right I navigate two places instead of one. What did I change in the config to cause this?

Ignoring HIP, Sage, etc for a moment, if you simply press and hold (eg) up, while pointing at your actual cable box, does your channel keep changing?
Did you 'teach' HIP the up/down/left/right buttons? If you pressed for too long while 'teaching', HIP will simply send back out whatever you taught - so if you pressed for too long while teaching, it will play back that 'press', and possibly go 'up' two channels (or more) instead of one. Now, the fact you say it does this for all 4 directions is odd ... but anyway, just a thought - re-teach, with shorter presses. Good Luck! |

I remember having that problem originally. Are you using the hacked MCE drivers or the regular ones?

Its IRTrans rather than an MCE receiver. I must of tweaked something as it was working ok for a while. Probably best to delete and start again!

Despite having chosen "no remote" in the sagetv setup, the arrow keys were bound to commands and as such I was getting one movement from these and one from HIP.
Not sure if I bound them or they are bound by default? Either way, fixed now. |

This is a well known issue
http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm Towards the bottom of the FAQ. Basically, if you use the standard mce remote drivers, the arrow keys are automatically bound to do the same as the arrow keys on your keyboard, several other controls are also bound and the mce reomte will do a lot with sage straight out of the box. If you replace the driver with the custom driver in the FAQ, you loose the automatic functionality but can program HIP to have the remote do whatever you want, including remapping the green button to activate sage, toggle fullscreen, whatever. |

I am having this problem as well....
up down left right and 0 key are doubling in sage. When navigating around in Sage, if I press down, it skips one item and ends up 2 down. Also, when I'm watching live TV and I press 0 on the MCE remote, it shows 00 in sage. I'm using the original drivers... ehome or something like that. I assume that when I press UP, windows sees it and tells sage "up arrow"... then my IR blaster sees it and tells sage "up". Is that right? Can someone post the solution to this on this thread? I bet more people will run in to this following steerpikes instructions (which were very helpful thanks) for HIP/hipwsend with Sage. |

Ok, sorry to keep replying... I guess I wasn't really thinking through why it was doing this and how to stop it.
All I did was right click on HIP (lower right hand corner).. click on "Configure" then when HIP opens click FILE > Preferences then the Alternate Inputs tab. Then delete the up,down,left,right,enter,0,1,2....9 inputs. Now sage works fine. I'm not the most technical person. I haven't even thought about getting other things (winamp, nero showtime, nesticle) associated with key presses yet.. that's for another weekend. HIP is cool, a bit confusing, but cool.. |
