So why would I want to use XMLTV?

What does XMLTV do that the Sage EPG does not? Does XMLTV give a more accurate EPG? I do have a few shows that run over to about a minute or two minutes after the next hour...would XMLTV fix that?

Not all countries are supported in Sage. These people have to use XMLTV. If the Sage EPG works for your area, you're not missing out on anything.

It also is helpful for people using OTA HD. I have numerous local HD channels that Sage doesn't get any guide data for. Using XMLTV I get them all.

To expound on the OTA HD channels, SageTV at this point in time does not support the sub channels beyond the .2, so for example 6.1 has EPG data and 6.2 will not.

To get around this you will need to setup xmltv to download from zap2it the data and presto bango you now have guide data for those channels you had no data for before.

It's a VERY useful tool, one I wish Sage Tech support, aka George would tell people about instead of taking a week to say they don't support it and wait for the next version.

That's why for me it's useful. It makes Sage truly the best.

Amen. My guide just stopped giving me data for two different sub-channels. The time I wasted trying to tweak them back, I could have had XMLTV set up.

I love it. No more channel scanning, and channel adding. Everything is in the file.

Is that what they'll be telling me in about a week? Because it's been a week already and over that period of time, their advice was:

Email support. One day later:..

"do a channel scan"

Email support "already did channel scan". Two days later...

"Uninstall version 6, reinstall version 5 and tell us if it works then"

*sigh*

I don't think HD OTA customers are their highest priority.
