IR STB channel changing?

IR STB channel changing?

I have a USB-UIRT I am using to control STV with a remote control. It is all setup and working fine. I would like to use the USB-UIRT to also change channels on my STB by attaching a IR sending unit to the USB-UIRT. My question is how do I get STV to use this setup? Where do I get the instructions about how to configure STV to send channel change instructions to the IR sender? I think I would have to teach STV the codes for my remote control numbers 0-9 like I did when setting the remote to control STV. I see in the setup of STV a place to configure a USB-UIRT for receiving commands, but not for using the device to send commands.
