Anybody using firewire or HD recordings outside of sage?

Is anyone out there using firewire or HD recordings outside of sage?
Does anyone use a 3rd party media streamer alongside sage, or is everyone just using the sage client?

I'm having trouble using the mpeg files that sage creates in any other software/hardware... this is a big bummer for me. I love sage - just wish i could use the files how i want!

Anyone?

Jeff

I sometimes use WMP or, rarely, Theatertek.

for some reason, I prefer using WMP for watching previously recorded HDTV shows.

thanks. Do you ever have problems with the files that sage creates? I am recording from a Fusion HDTV5 Lite and from firewire. Can't get those recordings to playback in anything other than sage.

What are you using to record?

FYI - i have just tried out beyondTV 4 and the recordings it makes with those SAME sources on the same machine work perfectly everywhere...

I record HD from a Motorola DCT cable box to .TS files via firewire.

They have played perfectly in all other apps. But I would expect them to, all it is doing is dumping the data stream to the HD... No TS -> PS conversion or anything.

Jason,

That's what i would expect, only sage insists on making my recodings MPEG files, not ts files... not sure why i'm having problems with it. Like i said, when i record with BeyondTV it makes ts files and they play everywhere...

Any settings that you know of that tells sage to just grab the stream and leave it alone?

Jeff

I also record via firewire straight .TS dump. Sage renames the extension as an .mpg file, but that doesn't seem to cause any problems. I don't recall doing anything to WMP or TT to make them play.

Very strange... not sure why my files aren't just straight dumps from the source, but they definitely aren't.. what version of sage are you running?
