Ok Dan,

But that doesn't answer how the MediaMVP works on live TV. Any thoughts?

Also, should we wait for the MVP to be available from you guys or will there be some type of ability to 'flash' the firmware to load any Sage software/firmware on the units bought from other retail channels?

Thanks for any input!

You're not going to get live TV from this device. You'll be able to play any of the recorded TV programs from a PVR 250/350 or comparable device. (Any MPG, MPEG1 or MPEG2 file) Only when when they come up with a SageTV client that runs on this thing will you be able to connect to a Sage Server and get live TV. (Unless I'm reading the specs wrong.)

Actually, you can get liveTV with the MediaMVP if Sage is doing the recording. I've done it. You just select the file from the video list in the MediaMVP that's currently being recorded by Sage, it plays back just fine.

Cool. Didn't know that would work but it does makes sense. It is, after all a MPEG2 file.

PGP,

Sorry, looks like its been clarified now. However you won't be able to change the channels with the MVP through their software. You'll only be able to access the Live SageTV feed.

It has been talked(just search) about before. Setting aside legal issues by using a Linux OS, It might be able to be done. But Jeff has other things to do right now. I'm pretty sure he'll make a linux client when he has time. Maybe the MVP will help spur it's development.

That is incredible SHS. Makes me wish I hadn't started collecting parts for my dedicated HTPC. I guess I'll just have to sneek the MVP past the wife as part of the HTPC.

Hey, are the ones you guys are using the scart version? I'm interested in getting one but only if it can output progressive RGB/Component.
