Hauppauge MediaMVP

Given Frey Technologies relationship with Hauppauge, is there something in the future where SageTV or SageClient would be able to take advantage/interface with this little gem.

http://www.hauppauge.com/html/mediamvp_datasheet.pdf

Right now it doesn't appear that I could make it interact with SageTV or SageClient. I would love to be able to hook up any TV to the Sage system via my network without needing another pc to sit beside it.

I'm all over it. You'll definitely be able to use this playback Sage recorded files. And I've been talking with Hauppauge about a more full integration of the SageTV UI on it. I think it'd be great to support it, and my architecture can definitely handle it.

That would be cool. Especially the full Sage integration support. Can't wait.

I know I would buy ~5 of them (depending on price somewhat) for super convenient thin SageTV Clients if it worked the two were ever integrated...

If Hauppage is smart at ALL, they will allow 3rd Party branding/software on the device at the OEM level. Frey would sell a TON of these babies.

I just one today and so far I like it but there is one down side to it, it a memory hog eat up 100+MB.
Good new it bace on XML and JavaScript and JPG so it sould be very eazy to build it the way you want it to look.

Great that it should be easy to modify the look, but the 100+ Megs is troublesome. I wonder how memory usage would scale with multiple MVPs using the same server.

That's the Hauppauge WinTV USB 2.0 PVR. The MediaMVP is what I'm after

Are you sure that's the right link? That looks like the USB2 version of the PVR. It even say's it's a model #941. I did a rotation of it in 3D and there was no network jack either.

Just trying to be sure.

EDIT:looks like I typed too slow again. I'm pretty sure that is not the MVP.

Yes, SHS, I could guess, given your connections, and I would have said before the hint, that you probably got an advance evaluation or test product from the source itself.

So do you know, or does anyone really know, when the product will actually be available to the rest of us less deserving, er, entitled?

Nope, not strange in my opinion.

If they are selling something Frey doesn't (the MediaMVP in this case), I think it is fine. Not like Rakesh was advertising their software.

Just my $0.02.

Of course I've never actually read the rules for this forum to see if posting items like that is verboten though.

I understand how the MVP can playback media files made by Sage, but how will it handle things like live TV, and the changing of live channels?

I LOVE the concept of this thin client (I'll get at least 3 if they work) but the interface is god awefully ugly. Makes the original UI of sage look like a work of art. Jeff, any luck getting Hauppauge to bite on allowing you to put your UI in an OEM version of this?

I saw the now deleted spam post from the Snapstream guy. What makes me angry is to think that they might have some type of special marketting clout that Sage doesn't, when Sage has been supporters of the Hauppauge 250 and 350 since nearly their inception.

Come on Hauppauge, work with the SAGE guys!

Don't worry, we are working very closely with Hauppauge on this, there's just no update to give at this point. We will also offer the MediaMVP in the near future for sale through our site.

In the meantime, I would just wait for the MVP to go on sale at Best Buy or Circuit City. I'll keep everyone updated as we know more in the future.
