Sage Recordings - Sound has some static

Hello - I've noticed lately that when Sage records - the sound on the mpg files are somewhat staticky...almost as if one were to crank up the volume on stero to full blast but this is at normal volume. Any ideas what that might be?

I'm using the Intervideo Non Hauppauge for the video and audio decoder and VMR9 for video and the defaults for audio rendering. Also, can someone explain the difference to me between the "decoder" and "rendering" and which might be best to use. I'm assuming there is really nothing in the setup that can control how well the initial capture of the mpeg is done with Sage, is that correct (provided that I'm using Hauppauge 500 cards which have built in encoders).

Thanks again,
Mike
