New to Sage and it just don't work

I have recently set up a sagetv box. I had problems installing the drivers. After a few attempts the driver software recognized the card and installed. I then tried Wintv before I installed Sage. I get the hTV=0 error. I saw in other threads that this might be caused by raid controllers however I don't have a raid controller. I have tried using the remove utility to get rid of the 150 drivers and moved the card into a different pci slot twice. Same result. Get it be a hardware problem? Any help will be appreciated.

Most certainly sounds like a hardware or driver problem to me.

Check for updated motherboard chipset drivers. Sometimes they include updates for other parts of your hardware. I had serious issues with a video card of mine until I updated my motherboards drivers and bios.

Check your motherboard bios setting, you might actually have raid and not know it, or you might also look and see if you have plug and play enabled. Sometimers there are two settings one that enables a PnP OS and one that automatically sorts out IRQ assignments outside the OS. Check the Device Manager for conflicts.

Have you been using Hauppauge's software removal tool? I think its called HWCLear or something, its on their support site. It completely removes the drivers and software. Makes for a clean install if something gets botched.

Do you have another computer to try the pvr-150 in? It might just be that your MB and that card don't play nice together.

Don't give up, this is a fun hobby, I have two different Hauppauge cards and they work great. But if you cant get wintv to run, you certainly won't have much fun with SageTV. Incidently you can't run sage and wintv at the same time. Only one can use the TV card at a time.

Thanks, I will give it a try. Just about to update the motherboard.I have enabled been using HWClear. And I do have plug and play enabled. I will look into that deeper. I was trying to avoid using this computer but I am about to have to. Thanks again for the advice. Will post an update.
