Burning Support?

Any idea if we'll see DVD burning support in the future? It'd be nice to be able to archive shows directly to DVD from the SageTV media center.

Except this should be a part of the core product. I'm not interested in loading Meekel STV to get KJake's DVD burning. Shouldn't this stuff be independent of STV? Wouldn't it be better if it was part of the core product? This is a media center isn't it?

If you'll do a quick re-read of KJake's thread you'll see that he has said that he wants to get it perfected first, THEN he'll make it as an .stvi. The reason that he started with Meekel is that it supported exporting the .xml file structure necessary to implement this long before the default .stv did.

Oh I understand Kjake's intentions and I imagine it will take a while...

But Sage itself should be able to do this (unfortunately it will make Kjake's development moot)

If you want to split hairs, Sage does do it. You have to be using the Linux OEM which burns DVDs natively.

I wish the windows version had that option.

Count me in - I would love to be able to drop a blank DVD on my DVD burner and be able to just say burned this movie from SageTV client. Extra would be to skip commercials as well.

Let me start a poll
